Through hands-on and online training, HBI’s instructors, career services staff, and program managers work together to provide a complete education of the skilled building trades to high school students, veterans, transitioning military, Job Corps students and justice-involved youth and adults. The training takes place in both a traditional classroom and in hands-on environments, with a focus on proper tool use, safety protocols, and practical on-the-job application.
The environment is fast-paced and exciting, with students working on multiple learning projects at once. Students often put their new skills to the test by participating in onsite and community-based volunteer projects, such as parks and neighborhood beautification.
The education doesn’t stop there. Instructors and program staff prepare students to transition into meaningful careers in the building industry through individual mentoring and teaching important lessons in resume writing, interviewing, and other life skills.
